Welcome

Carver Elementary School is located within the city limits, on the west side of Florence, South Carolina. It is one of the 14 elementary schools in Florence 1 Schools. Carver consists approximately of 625 students in grades kindergarten to fifth grade. The faculty and staff consist of full-time teachers, speech therapists, a nurse, classroom assistants, office staff, custodians, cafeteria staff, and part-time occupational therapists. Carver also has a guidance counselor, a part-time behavioral specialist, a psychologist, an ESL specialist and a media specialist. The principal and assistant principal work closely with a Curriculum/Technology Coordinator, and Literacy Coach.
Carver was originally built in 1952. In 1996, a new Carver building was constructed within five minutes of the original school.

Welcome to Carver! My name is Tara Hoffmeyer and I serve as the Assistant Principal. I graduated from Coker College with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education in 2012. I graduated with a Master's degree of Curriculum and Instructional Technology from Coker College in 2018. Prior to becoming the Assistant Principal, I served as the Curriculum/Technology Coordinator at Carver, and taught third and fourth grade. In 2024, I received my certificate of Advanced Studies in Educational Leadership from Salem University. I am excited for a new year at Carver. Hello! My name is Suzette Watson, and I'm thrilled to be the new Curriculum Coach at Carver Elementary Magnet School. It's truly an honor to become part of this exceptional learning community.
With 24 years of experience in education, I began my career as a fourth-grade teacher in North Carolina. The remainder of my career has been dedicated to Florence One, where I taught third grade and most recently served as the lead teacher for the REACH program.
I am eager to connect with Carver families and collaborate to ensure this school year is a positive and successful experience for all. Please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns. It’s going to be a great school year!
